Capsicum and Mushroom Pizza

Traditional pizzas may have some form of pizza sauce on them, but there is no rule that says it is a must. And this pizza of 3 cheeses, mushrooms, capsicums (bell peppers) and spices doesn’t have any sauce at all, yet is very tasty. Try our recipe, you’ll be surprised.

  • 1 x 30 cm pizza crust, see recipe for homemade crust or thaw if frozen
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ cup mushrooms, sliced
  • ½ red capsicum, sliced
  • 115 g shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • ⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon white pepper
  1. Preheat the oven to 230°C. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add mushrooms and capsicum to skillet and sauté 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Place the pizza crust on a pizza pan.
  4. In a medium-sized bowl, combine ¼ cup mozzarella cheese and all the ingredients; mix well. Spread the mixture over the pizza shell. Top with mushrooms and peppers, and sprinkle with the remaining ¾ cup mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the crust is crisp and brown. Cut and serve.
