Taco Seasoning Mix

This easy homemade recipe for taco seasoning is very handy to have on hand when you’re looking for a quick meal idea like scrumptious tacos.

Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons chilli powder
  • 3 tablespoons cumin powder
  • ¾ tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1½ tablespoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
  1. Mix all of the ingredients until well combined.
  2. Store in an airtight jar for up to 6 months
To use
  1. A packet of taco seasoning contains the equivalent of approx 2½ tablespoons of this mixture. The difference in quantity is made up of various thickeners and fillers that are added however they are omitted here.
  2. Use 2-3 tablespoons of this spice and ¼ cup of water per 450g of minced meat. Add the spice and water while the meat is browning and cook on medium high heat until the water has evaporated and the meat is fully cooked.
